„And, if they have not died, then they live certainly today.“ Roswitha Cherchenko folded the book up and took a look on Stephanie who had blissfully fallen asleep with a smile on the face in the meantime. Carefully without also producing only a noise, it got up of the edge of the bed, put the book on the bedside table not the blanket still picked something and left, to direct the look at the child without once again, the room. It went to the living room, stitches on the needles its knitting springed up and hers cycled again.
It was here already almost a year in this house when so-called lending grandma. People, a nice young family, did not have a grandma of their own for little Stephanie, since the grandparents of the little boys had already passed away. And when Roswitha offered to look after the little girl now and then, so that the parents could go to have fun, this suited them fine more than right. That they made use of it but hit on the finery so now and then without having to take care of the child of one's own not already suited fine them. You did not fetch Roswitha only for paying attention if wanted her away once but was invited again and again Roswitha for a meal or only to a comfortable
evening. All of you had themselves used to each other and enjoyed the get-together when they are used to one together proper family.
It was already late, as the parents of little Stephanie all of them arrived at home, a short conversation with Roswitha, then set out again to do mattress eavesdropping service. If sometimes it had got a little terribly late, Roswitha did not go into her own flat which was located in a suburb of London but slept in the flat of Stephanie's parents. This flat lay in the middle of the centre of the city centre and was more than spacious, why you already the it was offered many times to live in the flat here for ever. The parents of little Stephanie had closed Roswitha to their heart although she cared for the little girl only for about eleven months. But something which instilled such a big confidence into all other people, they could but to take her with open arms not do differently had Roswitha at itself.
Again and again asked her Roswitha, to stay for ever, but Roswitha always said no. No, she wanted her own little hut, kept in this quiet place. She felt comfortable and content there. No, a change
would suit her in the smallest way.
It the way was too long anyway, it accepted once the offer to stay on the upper floor in a spacious room again but tonight, there. It put itself to the quiet and fell asleep quite fast like always.
In the next morning it was and in its own flat awakely early. Properly it left the room, vacated its things together and went into the kitchen to judge the breakfast for everyone in the house. Always itself showed the family you in faultless light.
It was weekend and the family had planned an excursion. Roswitha was invited to come at the breakfast table, but she was pleased to say no. This weekend wanted to spend you alone at home. Because she did not feel well and this noticed the mother of little Stephanie. „Are you not well?“
„But, anyway. Only a small indisposition. Soon, this will be better again.“ She bent the head to below to hide the deep folds in your face while she was speaking. „Do they have time next Wednesday?“ The mother changed the topic after
she remarked how Roswitha obviously showed she does not want to talk about the health topic.
„Do for certain I have time, is something special on?“ Of course it was clear for her, Stephanie would get ten years old on this day and of course they would need help for it. But it did not show how it had a temperature in the reason contrary to this day.
„We now yes become Stephanie on Wednesday ten and would like to invite you on the sincerely yours to celebrate this birthday there of course. Or do they plan something else anyway?“ The mother hoped secretly Roswitha would have time on this day but Roswitha's question made it a little suspicious anyway.
„Oh, yes, be correct. I would have forgotten this almost. I but for certain like to come on this day. I also become them with pleasure to the hand go something. There is for certain quite a lot to work.“ Roswitha grinned into herself. The day she had waited already so long for had finally come. She would not join in this game for a long time either any more. Always more suffered your
health. But this would change as of Wednesday. It then would be the old again.
The Wednesday came and Roswitha came on time toward two p.m. Today, Stephanie's great day but also hers was not only.
The solemnities did not need much preparation. Finally the mother had time the whole morning and also had made everything. The different children little by little span one, to celebrate together with Stephanie from the neighbourhood.
Stephanie was happy next to all her friends. You frolicked around, made many games and alone the adults were lively. The day ended much too fast for everyone. For Roswitha only it passed too slowly. She just looked at the watch when the mother announced one may make end now, since the time has already made progress far. Roswitha's clock showed twenty-one hours thirty. Yes, it nodded also agreing. It became really slowly time.
The children next door said goodbye and Roswitha was asked, whether she did not want to take Stephanie to bed. In the meantime, the parents
wanted to begin to bring about order to the household a little.
„I like to take Stephanie to bed“, Roswitha spoke, the hand of the little boys took and it led up.
It did not have to do a lot since Stephanie was a very independent girl. It undressed, put its nightie on, went in the bath to wash and brush the teeth, then hopped with a „cheer“ into bed it and could willingly be covered up by Roswitha.
Roswitha stared at the little girl a whole while until Stephanie asked: „Do you not read any history to me today?“
Roswitha was roused from her thoughts suddenly. „But of course I still read a story to you.“ She took the book of fairytales, turned to a side and started to read. But she did not have to read for a long time because Stephanie fell asleep, of all the hardships of today fast and happily.
Roswitha looked at the sleeping child, put the book aside, got up and leant with the head far down to Stephanie. She then put her hand on the
forehead of the child mumbled a couple of incomprehensible words in which Stephanie opened her mouth like of magic hand. Without a long hesitation Roswitha pressed her mouth on that one of the child and one then heard a hissing quietly like of a tyre which had driven on a nail. So Roswitha paused for about three to four minutes, the girl then opened the eyes briefly to then immediately close them again and drop her body together.
Stephanie was losing her soul and her life at this moment.
Roswitha was straightening up at the same moment and the skin in her face began slowly to become smooth. The folds disappeared increasingly more from her face and also at the other body areas. Roswitha stared at her hands and watched tightening the skin. The hands did not work as those of an older woman but that one of a woman of middle age any more. This one drove with her hands slowly over the face and a broad grin spread out on this. She had achieved again what she longed already for a while for. She most quickly went in the bath to be able to look at
the success. When she saw her face in the mirror, she shone, because she knew still she must run through this procedure, then she would be immortal and the eternal youth would have twice.
She slowly went to below to help to tidy. She still wanted to comply with your last duties in this house. „Does Stephanie sleep?“ The mother enquired interestedly.
„Today, yes, she has fallen asleep particularly fast. The excitement today was very big anyway and the frolic with the other ones was exhausting.“ Roswitha avoided looking the mother into the face. Because she could notice the transformation.
After an hour the greatest chaos was removed in the house and Roswitha prepared to make the way home to herself open.
„Do they prefer to do not want to stay overnight, they have really a long way home and the time is already really far advanced?“ The father made this offer to her like always if it had got late.
„Today, no, I have to go home, because I have an
important appointment in this one just tomorrow early.“ Roswitha seized coat and bag and said goodbye. She was in a hurry to get away from here.
On the day following on this she bought the newspaper to look around for a new job as a lending grandmother. And she was looking for a family again who needed somebody like her, and the child stood shortly before the tenth birthday. Because only the soul of a child who had to be sucked on the tenth birthday helped it.
And it was lucky again. A family was looking for a woman in a suburb who would look after its nine-year-old daughter from time to time. Roswitha did not think it over for a long time and immediately called. And still she was invited for the same afternoon to introduce herself.
She put herself over into her most beautiful dress and went for the given address. Roswitha established her best smile when she rang at the front door. At about which a handsome woman opened her thirty. A girl whose eyes were torn up far stood behind her. The little girl was curious as
the new baby-sitter would look. The parents had talked to her about it before and for the little girl this was nothing special because there already were many baby-sitters in this house. It was pupils mostly who disappeared after shortest time again. This could already degenerate into stress because much could not be earned as a baby-sitter and depending on, in which, for a child.
The small Sybille was a praiseworthy exception there of course. It was quietly, consideredly and a very obedient one child. It did not have any brothers and sisters, it was therefore was not an only child but pulled out of shape and spoilt. Quite the reverse. When and where it always could it helped its mother. Yes, she was an exemplary child.
Roswitha asked the mother into the house and they took a seat in the living room together. They talked about the exact expiry in this house for a while, they then spoke about Sybille.
How old the little girl "is"?, then, Roswitha came to the central point crux of her request.
